Melissa Duclos

I am an author and marketing strategist with a background in teaching and a fierce commitment to advancing equity in education and supporting writers from marginalized communities. I have four years experience on the Corwin Press marketing team, where I managed strategy for books focused on advancing equity, supporting multilingual learners, improving professional development for educators, and transforming schools. Prior to my role at Corwin, I spent four years at Children Institute developing communications and fundraising strategies aimed at increasing access to early childhood education and health services for low-income families in Oregon. As the co-founder of Amplify Writers, I facilitate a club for middle school students interested in careers in creative writing, host a website of resources to support the career development of marginalized writers, and promote a curated online bookshop featuring books by marginalized writers. My novel Besotted was released in 2019 by 7.13 Books and my nonfiction has appeared in the edited anthology Feminists Reclaim Mentorship (SUNY Press, 2023), The Washington Post, and Salon, among other venues. I have an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University and a BA in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
